Focus on efficiency of primary processes, innovation still in early stages
The industry sees the current ICT support of primary processes and rather positive. Still the support of these processes continue to stay on top of the ICT agenda. Obviously there is a lot to optimize. Concerning innovation, the fashion branch is not leading. The interest for ICT solutions in Marketing & Sales is just starting to develop. Hereby a careful start is chosen, and a one on one approach on customers is used. A real multi channel concept is however not yet discussed.
ICT reaches the directors room, complete management information is not easy to gather
The majority of companies has a strategic ICT plan or is in the process of developing one. Almost half of the respondents is planning to partly or fully replace the system within the next three years. The preference is for integrated solutions instead of several different systems. Furthermore, there is an urgent need for standards for the exchange of information of chain integration.
Most companies do not have real time connections, this often results in that no real time information is available. However, they still have sufficient information in order to make strategic decisions. It is striking that the availability of management information differs strongly per task area within the organization. This makes it difficult for the management to get a complete and coherent picture.
